How to Have a 'Sustainable Spring' | Sustainable Lifestyle Tips for Spring

Spring is finally here, and what better way to show our appreciation for this gorgeous season - and our wonderful planet - by stepping up our eco-game and taking part in 'Sustainable Spring'?

If you're new to the trend that is Sustainable Spring, all it essentially boils down to is all of us collectively doing our bit to take part in some easy-peasy sustainable activities to celebrate the new season whilst making a conscious effort to be more eco-friendly over the next few months.

As my second favourite time of the year (Summer still comes first, sorry!) I love taking part as it allows me to truly appreciate the beautiful world we live in and give back in some shape or form - no matter how small.

Here are some of my favourite activity ideas for Sustainable Spring that you can take part in too:

1) Take Advantage of The Warmer Weather

Now that the clocks have gone forward, we can all look forward to longer days, and (hopefully) warmer weather. So, this Spring make sure you're taking advantage of the warmer weather by drying your clothes outside if you can. A garden or a balcony is perfect, but if this isn't possible, leaving your clothes to dry on an airer is free and kinder to the planet compared to using a tumble dryer!

2) Spend time in Nature

Another easy way to take advantage of the better weather that's to come is by spending time in nature! As well as boosting our mood and relieving stress/anxiety, spending time outdoors serves as a great reminder to appreciate and do what we can to protect our Planet Earth. Plus, there are so many options to suit your budget: you could go berry-picking or pick some flowers to bring back home, tend to your garden, take a walk in a national park or even find a pretty spot to enjoy a picnic on a sunny day (bonus points for bringing your own Tupperware and avoiding disposable plastics!).

3) Have a Sustainable Spring Clean

A good-old Spring Clean around the house is one of my favourite ways to reset and welcome in this new season, and fortunately, there are lots of ways to make your spring cleaning more sustainable. This year, why not try using some eco-friendly cleaning products or the good old baking soda/vinegar combo to get things sparkling clean without the use of toxic chemicals? And if you're planning on decluttering your wardrobe, try to avoid throwing your Spring/Summer clothes from last year away - instead, mend/upcycle your outfits for a fresh feel.

4) Eat More Plant-Based

Despite not being a vegetarian or vegan, I try to make an effort to incorporate more plant-based and veggie meals into my diet when I can. This Spring, why not set yourself the challenge to incorporate more plant-based/veggie foods into your diet? You could try having 'Meat-Free Mondays' every week, or have each of your friends bring one vegan dish of their choice to your Sustainable Picnic for everyone to enjoy!
